This year’s conference, “The Future of Shopping Centers in Romania”, focused on some of the hottest topics for the industry: the evolution of consumers and retailers, the quality of shopping centers, the development models and strategies, differentiation and competition, and the refurbishment.

The specialists and the participants concluded that the first generation of shopping centers need to undertake urgent refurbishments to upgrade design and functionalities, in order to adapt to current and future needs of customers and retailers. And despite the optimistic perspectives for an increase in revenues this year (3,5 percent), discussions pointed out that growth cannot be linear throughout the industry: dominating shopping centers can adapt and survive, but the less dominating ones will have to reposition or change their destination.
