IKEA to begin construction of its first store in Slovenia in 2019
IKEA, Swedish furniture retailer, is set to begin the construction of its first department store in Slovenia, located within the retail complex BTC CIty in Ljubljana, in 2019.
The company has submitted an application for the change of the municipal spatial plan (OPN), according to the the amended Slovenian construction law, and will provide all necessary technical documentation by mid-June.
As previously announced, IKEA is planning to invest around 90 million EUR in the new department store in Slovenia.
The Swedish furniture giant is currently building a new store in Bucharest, Romania, which is scheduled to be competed in H2 2018. According to its representatives, its long-term plan is to reach a total of nine units in the Romanian market.
Within the South East Europe region, IKEA is also present in Croatia, Bulgaria and Serbia.
