Baltic e-grocery store expands into Poland

Barbora, the owner of e-grocery store Barbora.pl, has leased warehouse and office space in Ożarów II Logistics Centre. The tenant was represented during the transaction process by global real estate services firm Cushman & Wakefield.

Barbora, the largest e-retailer of groceries and everyday products in the Baltic states, is expanding into Poland. It is a subsidiary of the Maxima Group, the owner of the Stokrotka chain. The company leased approximately 6,000 sqm of warehouse and office space in Ożarów.

“Barbora has posted strong growth over the past year on the back of demand for quick food deliveries. We are therefore excited that Polish people will also be able to access their services. The leased space will be dedicated to the operations of the internet platform Barbora.pl,” says Kamil Żach, Senior Negotiator, Cushman & Wakefield.

Initially, Barbora.pl will be available to Warsaw inhabitants. Although its key supplier in Poland will be Stokrotka, the company will also look to partner with local suppliers of regional products.

“The challenges set by the tenant included launching the Barbora.pl platform in January 2021 and completing a range of necessary technical adaptations within a short timeframe. Thanks to the cooperation of all the parties engaged in the project, we managed to meet them, which enabled full commercialization of OLC II,” adds Anna Rosa, Leasing Manager, CBRE.

Ożarów II Logistics Centre is a complex of two modern warehouse facilities with a total area of approximately 29,000 sqm. The logistics park is suitable for medium-sized and large tenants from various sectors. It is situated by national road 92 and enjoys easy access to the nearby Konotopa interchange of the A1 motorway and the S8 and S2 expressways. The logistics centre also enjoys first-rate access to public transport. CBRE is the commercialisation agent and property manager for the complex.
