MLP Group, a leading warehouse developer, has started construction on its project to build a modern business park MLP Business Park Berlin I. The groundbreaking ceremony was held in the town of Ludwigsfelde near Berlin and was attended by representatives of MLP Group, the general contractor and local authorities.
MLP Business Park Berlin I is a business and logistics park with a total leasable area of approximately 18,000 sqm, offering small warehouse modules with modern office space, with leasable area starting from 750 sqm. The project is intended primarily for e-commerce, courier and light manufacturing companies, and it is due for completion in the second quarter of 2021. The warehouse and office space will be housed in four halls and will be fully BREEAM certified in line with MLP Group’s standard practice. CBRE and JLL, real estate services firms, have been retained on an exclusive basis to find tenants for the property.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the project owner, general contractor and local authorities. MLP Group, the owner of MLP Business Park Berlin I, was represented by Radosław T. Krochta – President of the Management Board, Tomasz Zabost – Member of the Management Board, Patrick Schumacher-Kurowski – Country Manager for Germany and Austria, Björn Foltinowsky – Head of Construction & Project Management, and Andreas
Bertsch – Technical Project Manager. Other honourable guests in attendance were Ralf Junghans – Divisional Head of Logistics East, representing the general contractor Köster GmbH, and Mayor Andreas Igel, representing the local government.
Mayor Igel emphasised the importance of Ludwigsfelde’s location. He also expressed his satisfaction that the MLP Business Park Berlin I project could finally commence, adding that he greatly appreciates MLP Group’s investment. “What you are doing here serves our mutual interests”, he said.
“This is project in a prime location in Germany, is marking another milestone in MLP Group’s expansion in this country. Outside the Berlin region, we plan to build new facilities in Cologne, Munich, Rhine Ruhr, and Vienna,” said Patrick Schumacher-Kurowski, MLP Group’s Country Manager for Germany and Austria.
The logistics park is located on the B101 road, providing a direct link to the Berlin ring road (A10). The facility is only a few minutes’ drive away from the Ludwigsfelde rail station, which has excellent access to public transport. There is a bus service near the park. The distance to Berlin Schönefeld Airport is 26 km.
