Sixteen brands entered the Czech retail market in the first six months of this year. The most common segments were fashion (clothing, footwear, and accessories – 6 brands) and gastronomy (F&B – 5 brands). Fourteen of the new entries opened in Prague, with one in České Budějovice and one in Třebíč.
The traditionally strong sector of gastronomic concepts remained active this year as well. Five new brands entered the Czech market. The lifestyle food bar dean&david opened its first location in Prague’s Máj department store, with additional branches planned for Jiřího z Poděbrad and V Celnici. Ukrainian seafood restaurant Chernomorka launched in Ondříčkova Street in Prague. Croatian bistro Koykan started operations in May at Prague’s Máj, with a second location set to open later this year at the Černý Most shopping centre, soon to be rebranded as Westfield Černý Most. Austrian brand Seven North opened a new restaurant within the Sir Prague hotel, and Italian aperitivo shop Ciao Spritz is opening on Vodičkova Street in central Prague.

Fashion, Footwear and Accessories Remain Strong
The fashion, footwear and accessories segments continue to show solid performance. Slovak barefoot footwear brand BeLenka opened its first Czech store in Prague’s Arkády Pankrác shopping centre. American cap brand New Era launched on the 28. října shopping street, while another U.S. brand, Peak Design, specialising in outdoor accessories, opened on Senovážné náměstí. German label s.Oliver introduced its premium clothing line s.Oliver Black Label at the IGY shopping centre in České Budějovice. Italian children’s fashion store Blukids began operating in Ládví, Prague.

Beauty Products Are Trending, And the Luxury Segment Is Set for Its Strongest Year Ever
One of the most notable new entrants to the Czech market in the first half of the year is American cosmetics brand Bath & Body Works, which opened a store in Prague’s Westfield Chodov. Also debuting in the Czech Republic is Ksisters, a Korean cosmetics store originally from Slovakia.
In the luxury segment, CHANEL opened its first Fragrance and Beauty boutique in June. Until now, the brand had operated only a full-format store on Pařížská Street. The new boutique, located in the newly renovated Baroque Savarin Palace on Na Příkopě Street, marks CHANEL’s entry into the beauty and wellness segment, following the example of several Western European cities.
This year is expected to break records for the number of new luxury brand entries. Within the Fairmont Golden Prague Hotel on Pařížská Street, the first Czech stores of Ermanno Scervino, Grenardi, Damiani, and Pasquale Bruni will open this summer. They will be joined by existing brands such as Max Mara, La Table, and the contemporary art gallery Kodl Contemporary, which will launch in September. Another highlight is the upcoming opening of luxury perfume brand Nicolaï on Široká Street in July.
Jan Kotrbáček said: “We have never seen such a concentration of premium and luxury brand entries and store openings within a single year. The spotlight is on Pařížská Street and its surroundings, where a new luxury axis is forming. Emerging retail clusters are boosting the area’s appeal and strengthening its international reputation.”
Other sectors
The leisure segment saw just one new entrant in the first half of the year: Another World, a U.S.-based virtual reality arena. The sports segment was enhanced by the German cycling brand Canyon Bikes, which opened a store on Na Maninách in Prague.
Bargain hunters welcomed the arrival of German discount chain Woolworth, the world’s largest variety store chain of its kind, which opened in June at the STOP SHOP retail park in Třebíč.
Second Half of The Year to Welcome More Major Brands
The second half of 2025 is expected to bring a wave of global brand entries to the Czech market, further expanding local consumer choice. Anticipated openings include the popular bakery-café Cinnamood, sushi chain Sushi Circle, Swedish fashion and café concept Arket (part of the H&M group), and German drugstore Müller. Other upcoming newcomers include Polish jeweller Savicki, Austrian gym Speedfit, fast food brands Wendy’s and the long-awaited Five Guys, eyewear retailer Kodano, Italian beauty brand Kiko Milano, sneaker store Worldbox from the CCC Group, and café chain Reborn Coffee.
Savarin Palace is also set to host Piano Bar, a Polish concept offering live music every evening. This diverse lineup of brands reflects the growing interest of international players in Czech consumers and opens new opportunities in gastronomy, fashion, beauty, and leisure.
