Opening in 2021, this new hotel in Warsaw will offer 150 rooms, conference space and a rooftop bar within the Elektrownia Powiśle mixed-use development. Leading Spanish hospitality company Barceló Hotel Group has announced opening of a new hotel in Warsaw, set to launch in the capital city’s Powiśle neighborhood in 2021. It will be housed within the Elektrownia Powiśle development, a former power plant which houses a vibrant collection of bars, restaurants, shops, office spaces and private residences, all next to Vistula Boulevards and only within a 15-minute walk from the city center.
The 4-star hotel will offer direct access to Elektrownia Powiśle’s retail, entertainment and F&B, which is a two-minute walk from the nearest Metro station.
Jaime Buxó, Chief Business Development Officer at Barceló Hotel Group, says: “We are delighted to be opening our first hotel in Warsaw as part of this landmark development project, which will see the transformation of one of Warsaw’s most iconic buildings. The prime location of the property, in the most culturally vibrant district in the city, chimes perfectly with Barceló Hotel Group’s ambitions to open new hotels in the most exciting destinations and it is an important marker of our growth strategy as we expand our footprint worldwide.”
The hotel will be built on a plot at the intersection of Zajęcza and Wybrzeże Kościuszkowskie streets. In an area of 7,350 sq. m. guests will find 150 bedrooms, conference space and Iberian-style rooftop bar with wonderful views over the Vistula River.
Neil Veitch, Partner and Development & Construction Director Europe Construction in White Star Real Estate, comments: “We are delighted that the first hotel of Barceló Hotel Group in Warsaw will become part of Elektrownia Powiśle. Barceló hotels enjoy popularity and an excellent reputation around the world; we are glad that business and tourist visitors to Warsaw will be able to take advantage of this soon. We would like to also recognize Zofia Kubit help from Hotel Gateway that was essential in making our collaboration with Barceló possible.”
Matt Lunt, Executive Director at Tristan Capital Partners said: “Elektrownia Powiśle is fast becoming the destination of choice for premium international brands looking to enter the Polish market, with Urban Outfitters and Weekday both announcing plans to open their first stores at the site. The mixed-use scheme, which will also offer the first beauty hall in Warsaw, has had a hugely successfully year in terms of leasing activity in the run up to its opening in 2020 and with Barceló Group on board, the final piece of the jigsaw is now in place.”
