Futureal Group and Mithra Energy have completed the sale of their 438 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Trębaczew, Poland, to ENGIE, an established energy company. The Trębaczew project is among the largest battery energy storage developments currently under construction in Poland.
The project has secured a final and legally binding building permit, providing a solid foundation for the next stages of development and construction. It is expected to be connected to the grid by the end of 2029 at the latest.
As part of the transaction, ENGIE will also assume responsibility for the management, engineering and construction-related activities required to advance the project through its subsequent development and delivery phases.
The transaction marks another important milestone for Futureal Group and Mithra Energy in Poland’s rapidly expanding energy storage market. It also demonstrates the partners’ ability to identify, secure, develop and successfully transact large-scale energy infrastructure projects.
Christopher Guzowski, CEO and Founder of Mithra Energy, commented: “We are proud to continue partnering with major European utilities and supporting their green energy transition. We would like to thank ENGIE for its professionalism throughout the transaction process, as well as our advisers EY, DLA Piper and SKS for their support. Congratulations also go to the Mithra and Futureal Investment Partners development and deal teams, whose dedication and attention to detail have been instrumental in bringing projects of this scale to fruition.”
“The Trębaczew transaction is a significant step in the continued expansion of our investment activities in Poland. Large-scale battery storage will play an increasingly important role in supporting the integration of renewable energy and enhancing the flexibility of the Polish power system. Together with Mithra Energy, we have built a substantial development pipeline, and this transaction demonstrates our ability not only to originate and advance complex projects, but also to attract leading international energy companies as long-term partners. Poland remains a strategic market for us, and renewable energy remains an integral part of this endeavour,” said Karol Pilniewicz, CEO of Futureal Investment Partners, a member of Futureal Group.
Futureal Group and Mithra Energy are building a significant presence in Poland’s battery energy storage market. The companies are currently developing a portfolio of energy storage projects with a combined capacity of almost 3 GW, targeted for development and construction by the end of 2029.
