The grand opening of one of the largest retail properties in Russia – Grozny Mall Shopping and Leisure Center (GLA=54,670 sqm), lying in the heart of the Chechen Republic’s capital city has taken place.
Grozny Mall will be connected via a pedestrian bridge gallery to the 435-meter Akhmat Tower high-rise scheme which will house offices, a five-star hotel managed by The Address Hotels & Resorts (UAE), apartments and residences, a spa facility, gym, skyline restaurant, museum and expo centre, as well as Europe’s tallest viewing deck. The Kausar park and recreation area with entertainment, leisure, and cultural functions surround the mixed-use centre.
The original visual concept for this scheme was developed by the international architectural company Chapman Taylor. The architects designed the roof in the form of the building’s “fifth facade” which can be seen from the bank of the river Sunzha, as well as from the height of the future Akhmat Tower skyscraper. In 2020, a world record certificate was issued for the largest architectural star image. In 2021, a new record was set – ”The world’s largest architectural canopy shaped as an eight-beam star”.
Colliers has been in charge of integrated management of this scheme since September 2021, and in 2016, the company was also commissioned to perform exclusive brokerage.
“The Grozny Mall grand opening date (5 October 2021) was not chosen by chance. This is a major holiday for all Grozny residents when the capital of Chechnya celebrates City Day. It is in such a festive atmosphere that we are especially pleased to make a gift to all the residents of our region by opening a new unique place for shopping, leisure and entertainment,” commented Alexei Chaykin, Chief Commercial Officer at Smart Building LLC.
“Our key task is to take care of professional and efficient facility management and together with our client to achieve ambitious goals by unlocking the multifaceted potential that was laid as a solid foundation by the project team,” concluded Anna Nikandrova, Partner at Colliers Russia.
