GTC Group has released its 2024 ESG Report, highlighting the Group’s year-on-year progress in sustainability. In 2024, the company reduced its CO2 emissions by approximately one-fifth, and 93 percent of its office and retail buildings now hold one of the internationally recognised environmental certifications.
The latest GTC ESG Report, prepared by GRI standards, consolidates data from seven CEE markets, covering the company’s initiatives in environmental protection, support for local communities, and the strengthening of governance standards. Across these countries, GTC owns 39 office buildings and 6 shopping centres. The nearly 5,200-unit PRS residential portfolio acquired in Germany at the end of 2024 will be included in the next edition of the report.
Among GTC’s key sustainability achievements in 2024 were a 19 percent year-on-year reduction in direct and indirect CO2 emissions (Scopes 1 and 2) and a 20 percent decrease in indirect value-chain emissions (Scope 3). These results were driven in part by the growing share of renewable energy used across the company’s portfolio.
Aligned with its strategic goal, GTC is committed to certifying all of its existing and future commercial properties with BREEAM, LEED, or DGNB standards. By the end of 2024, 93 percent of the Group’s buildings were certified, with an additional 5 percent undergoing certification. All GTC buildings in Poland, Serbia, Romania, and Bulgaria are now fully certified. In 2024, Matrix C in Zagreb achieved DGNB Platinum certification, while Sofia Tower 2 in Sofia was awarded LEED Gold.
In addition, 21 GTC properties have obtained “Barrier-Free Facility” or Access4you® certification, confirming their accessibility for individuals with diverse needs, including those with disabilities.
“Climate challenges, evolving user expectations, rising social awareness, and economic volatility all demand a conscious and strategic approach. At GTC, we see these changes as an opportunity to deepen our commitment to environmental protection, community engagement, and transparent governance. Thanks to our team’s dedication, we have made notable progress in reducing CO2 emissions, increasing the share of green energy, and lowering water consumption across our buildings. These efforts help us optimise our portfolio in line with long-term ESG objectives,” said Małgorzata Czaplicka, CEO of GTC S.A.
Throughout 2024, GTC actively ran initiatives that reinforce its commitment to creating healthy, sustainable, and inclusive communities. The company organised dozens of events across its offices and retail properties, promoting healthy lifestyles and intergenerational connection, including family picnics, city games, holiday workshops, volleyball festivals, and yoga classes. Tenants and visitors could benefit from free medical check-ups, blood donation drives, and children’s sports activities.
GTC also conducted environmental awareness campaigns and bicycle promotion initiatives. During e-waste collections, participants received plants or seeds as incentives. The company was further involved in planting 815 trees across Poland.
Supporting charitable organisations and local businesses remained a key focus. GTC provided free access to its spaces for activities promoting humanitarian causes and enabled local entrepreneurs to sell organic and artisanal products.
The report also includes in-depth insights into GTC’s workplace environment and commitment to equity. Currently, 57 percent of GTC’s workforce and nearly half of its managers are women.
