Heitman expands pan-European investment capabilities – EuropaProperty

Heitman LLC (“Heitman”), a global real estate investment management firm, today announced that it has appointed Caleb Mercer as Managing Director of its European Private Equity Group to originate, structure, complete, and manage investments throughout Europe. He will report to Tony Smedley, Heitman’s Head of European Private Equity.

He was previously with the firm from 2012 to 2015 and his strong pan-European track record and considerable investment acumen will add leadership depth to our European team that complements and supports our increased investment activity in the region,” said Mr. Smedley. “Ensuring we have the appropriate balance of skills, experience and talent is fundamental to the broadening of our European Private Equity business. Recruiting Caleb is an essential first step in this process.”

Caleb formerly served as a Senior Vice President, European Acquisitions at Starwood Capital, where he sourced investment opportunities across multiple European geographies. In his previous role with Heitman, he was Senior Vice President, Acquisitions. Caleb began his career as an Analyst with Merrill Lynch. He has also held real estate roles with AXA Investment Managers and JER Partners. In total, Caleb has 15 years of real estate investment experience and has transacted across 15 European countries. He has experience across a wide variety of real estate asset classes and in direct, corporate, and credit real estate investments.

Caleb attended the University of Oxford where he received his degree in Computer Science and Mathematics, and is fluent in French.
