David Coleman has been appointed Vice President, Chief Risk Officer at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), after serving as Acting Vice President since December 2023. As Vice President, he will oversee multiple departments including Risk Management, Environmental and Sustainability, Procurement Policy and Advisory. Mr Coleman is a member of the EBRD Executive Committee, the Operations Committee and the Asset and Liability Committee. He will also continue to lead the Risk Committee and chair the EBRD’s Crisis Management Team.
Odile Renaud-Basso, President of the EBRD said “With nearly 30 years in banking, including roles at Royal Bank of Scotland, Deutsche Bank, Bankers Trust, and NatWest, David is exceptionally well-positioned to lead the EBRD’s Risk Vice Presidency at a pivotal point in the Bank’s history as we face the challenges and opportunities presented by our existing and planned new countries of operation.”
In his career, Mr Coleman has also contributed significantly to the field as a co-author of the risk management examination text for PRMIA and served on its Global Board for 8 years.
