Ed Siskind appointed as ULI Europe Chair
Ed Siskind, the Founder and CEO of real estate investment and finance firm Cale Street Partners (“CSP”), has been appointed as Chair of ULI Europe. Siskind succeeds Anne Kavanagh and will serve voluntarily for a two-year term.
Ed has been an active member of ULI since 2011 and currently serves on the ULI Europe Executive Committee. During his time with ULI, he has also served as a Global Governing Trustee and has been on the Europe Executive Committee as well as being a member of the Global Exchange Council.
Before founding CSP, during 23 years Ed served in a variety of leadership roles at Goldman, Sachs & Co in both the UK and the US, including Global Head of the Real Estate Principal Investment Area and Co-Head of European Merchant Bank.
CSP was established by Ed in 2014 in partnership with the Kuwait Investment Office, the London branch of the Kuwait Investment Authority, and since its inception has raised approximately $15bn and provided innovative solutions to investors internationally across Europe, the UK and the US.
Ed is a member of the Advisory Board of Bridges Fund Management and the Investment Committee of the Courtauld Institute, and a member of the President’s Roundtable at Princeton University and the University of Cambridge Land Economy Advisory Board. He is a past Board member of Harvard University’s Real Estate Academic Initiative and has lectured on international real estate at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. Ed graduated from Princeton University with honours in 1988.
ULI is a non-profit education and research institute supported by its members. Its mission is to shape the future of the built environment for transformative impact in communities worldwide.
“I’d like to extend a very warm welcome to the new Chair of ULI Europe, Ed Siskind,” said Franz F. Colloredo-Mansfeld, ULI’s Global Chair. “I look forward to working with Ed to build upon the strong legacy he inherits from Anne in both advancing the mission of ULI in Europe and aligning its work within the global organisation. Finally, my thanks go to Anne for her significant contribution to the success of ULI in the region and beyond over the last two years.”
Outgoing ULI Europe Chair Anne Kavanagh comments, “It has been a privilege and extremely enjoyable serving as European Chair over the last two years and a Global Board member for seven years. We’ve continued to evolve the organisation to reflect the needs and priorities of our members during a period of uncertainty for our industry, while also ensuring that our structure is more closely aligned in Europe and globally. I am proud of everything that the teams have achieved and will continue to support ULI.”
“I am delighted to be handing over the baton to an outstanding successor, and I warmly welcome Ed, who is distinguished by his vision and commitment to excellence in the real estate industry. He is already a great ambassador for ULI, and I’m thrilled that he will bring his leadership and strategic skills to the Chair role in the coming two years.”
Ed Siskind said: “Having served on the European Executive Committee for some time, I am honoured to take on the role of ULI Europe Chair and am thrilled to be joining Simon and the team to contribute towards the delivery of our mission as we seek to have a transformative impact in the built environment and in our communities.”
“I would like to thank my predecessor Anne Kavanagh for her enormous contribution and achievements as ULI Europe Chair over the past two years, and particularly for her leadership during a period of uncertainty and geopolitical turbulence for our industry and for her transition planning during the recent leadership change. Anne has left a great legacy”
Siskind has identified several priorities that will guide his tenure as ULI Europe Chair. He explains:
“As Chair, my priorities will include closely supporting the new ULI Europe CEO Simon Durkin to assist him in executing his vision and priorities in the region. Another will be to build upon the exceptional position that ULI Europe has as the preeminent organisation for convening and exchanging best practices among the leading players in the property industry, and especially at a time when we’re all addressing some significant challenges.”
“Talent, and supporting Europe’s next generation of built environment leaders, is another important area, and I’ll be looking to leverage our industry’s senior leaders in attracting new talent, and supporting their development including through research and education, convening, mentoring and knowledge sharing via many of the great programmes offered by ULI.”
“Finally, my intention is to help further integrate ULI’s leaders in Europe with our leaders in the US and Asia to ensure that the work of ULI is fully aligned with, and integral to, an indispensable global membership organisation that is leading the built environment in best practice across the world.”
