KAJIMA PROPERTIES APPOINTS HUW MORRISON AS GENERAL COUNSEL
Kajima Properties, the pan-European real estate investor, developer, and manager, has appointed Huw Morrison as General Counsel. Huw will oversee all legal matters relating to the company’s operations. With an extensive background in real estate private equity and investment management, Huw brings a wealth of expertise to the role.
Huw joins Kajima Properties from CBRE Investment Management, where he served as the Head of UK Legal for business lines investing globally and across EMEA in both direct and indirect real estate assets.
During his time at CBRE Investment Management, Huw worked on numerous separate account establishments, fund establishments, primary fund investments, co-investments, secondaries, a variety of joint ventures, acquisitions, developments, financings, and disposals. He has in-depth experience operating in multiple jurisdictions and sectors, including a significant cross-border element to his work.
Before his role at CBRE Investment Management, Huw spent eight years at the international law firm Jones Day. During his eight years there, he represented a variety of investors, sponsors, and operating partners on all aspects of real estate investment, including cross-border real estate M&A and real estate private equity/investment management matters covering the UK, Europe and the US.
John Harcourt, Managing Director of Kajima Properties, said: “Huw’s extensive experience in managing all legal aspects of major projects, coupled with a deep understanding of the real estate sector, makes him an ideal addition to our growing and dynamic business. Huw’s calibre and experience will be invaluable as we continue to expand Kajima’s presence across Europe, particularly as we continue to grow our assets under management on behalf of third parties.”
Huw’s appointment will ensure that Kajima Properties is well-positioned to navigate the legal complexities associated with its continued expansion. His leadership will strengthen the company’s governance framework and ensure that its legal functions align closely with its strategic goals.
