IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) announced it has surpassed 1,000 open hotels across Europe. Over the past three years, IHG has rapidly expanded, adding more than 210 hotels to its European portfolio – net system size growth of over 25% – strengthening its presence across priority destinations and segments.
Since the start of 2024, IHG has had 36 opening debuts, excluding Ruby hotels, to new countries in Europe for individual brands. Recent brand debuts span Luxury & Lifestyle, Premium and Essentials and Suites categories and include Iceland, Sweden and Greece – offering a stay for every traveller and journey. This 1,000-hotel milestone comes as IHG now has more than 280 hotels in its European pipeline, demonstrating the further strong growth opportunity across one of the world’s most dynamic travel regions.
Building on a record 2025, IHG has continued to expand and diversify its portfolio. This includes the acquisition of Ruby, the premium urban lifestyle brand designed for modern travellers, and the launch of Noted Collection, its 21st brand, which has already achieved seven hotel signings globally.
Reaching 1,000 hotels reflects the confidence of owners, partners and guests in IHG’s brands, enterprise platform and IHG One Rewards, its leading loyalty programme with more than 160 million members. It also underscores Europe’s enduring appeal as the world’s leading tourism destination, attracting approximately 793 million international arrivals in 2025 – more than half the global total, according to UN Tourism.
Karin Sheppard, SVP & Managing Director, Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “Surpassing 1,000 open hotels in Europe is a defining moment for IHG and a clear reflection of the strong momentum we are building across the region. This milestone speaks to the strength of our brands, the trust our owners place in us as a partner, the dedication of our brilliant hotel teams delivering exceptional experiences every day, and the loyalty our guests feel towards IHG. We are purposefully scaling our portfolio by growing new and established brands in priority markets, supported by sustained investment in our enterprise. Europe remains highly attractive, and with strong fundamentals and a growing pipeline, we are well positioned to deliver long-term value for owners and great stays for guests.”
