The winners have been announced in the first stage of the architecture contest “DORMITORIUM Student Residential Unit” organized by the Faculty of Architecture and Fine Arts at Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Kraków University in collaboration with Golub GetHouse, investor for the modern Livinn Kraków student residence hall. The award for first place in the contest, for designing a residential unit for a handicapped person, has gone to the Pole Tomasz Jałocha, Yevheniia Krepsheva from Ukraine and Maria Barranco Fernandez from Spain. The winners have also received the opportunity to see the winning design realized in the student house Livinn Kraków at ul. Romanowicza 4 in Kraków, now under way as part of the revitalization and modernization of the former Telpod factory building.
“DORMITORIUM Student Residential Unit,” a project for students of architecture and interior design at the Faculty of Architecture and Fine Arts of Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Kraków University, comprises three stages. The first one, recently finished, required contestants to design a handicapped residential unit. In the second stage, students will tackle the vision of an ideal room, and the third stage will focus on the concept of amenities at shared spaces, which will be available to all students.
Jakub Bartos, Head of Residential at Golub GetHouse, said: “We are tremendously impressed with the creativity and skills of the students and the quality of the designs they submitted for the contest. The participants perfectly captured the spirit of the modern Livinn Kraków student housing, where we intend to create spaces conducive for development of passions and community integration. It will be a very friendly and accessible place, without barriers – therefore the subject of our competition was not accidental. Livinn Kraków will be fully adapted to the needs of handicapped person. Through the solutions we will provide, they will have comfortable access to all the facilities and functionality of the building.
Livinn Kraków is under construction as part of the renovation of the old Telpod factory building at ul. Romanowicza 4 in Kraków. The cooperation in implementing the project with the US-based CA Ventures International – a company with huge experience in student housing construction in North and South America, will result in a modern residence hall with 713 beds available in different space configurations of 1 to 4 rooms. Each of the 290 residential units will come with a living room and study space, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. The housing units will be fully furnished, with high-speed internet access.

Livinn Kraków will offer students a very wide range of amenities. They will have unlimited access to specially arranged spaces for individual and group learning, a game and entertainment centre, a cinema room, and a kitchen for group cooking. The ground floor will house generally accessible areas and outside terrace for the students’ visitors . The building will include a modern gym, a bike storage room, and a laundry room for the exclusive use of Livinn Kraków residents. The building will also have an internal garden with relax zone, where a unique climate will be create by a high, natural trees. Great emphasis was placed on the safety of residents. The entire building will be monitored 24/7 by reception, security staff and CCTV television.
Apart from amenities designed exclusively for students, Livinn Kraków will also offer publicly accessible shop, drugstore, restaurant and café on the ground floor and a terrace.
The design of the Telpod renovation was provided by the renowned Kraków-based architecture studio IMB Asymetria, and the general contractor is UNIBEP S.A. Completion of construction is planned for summer 2019, and the facility will be ready for the first students to move in at the start of the 2019/2020 academic year.
