LKQ Europe is extending its lease at the .KTW office complex in Katowice. The company will continue to develop its LKQ Innovation and Service Center in the taller office building from early 2023, strengthening its market position in Central and Eastern Europe.
LKQ Europe is an industry-leading distributor of spare parts for cars, vans and industrial vehicles in Europe. It is a subsidiary of LKQ Corporation, the world’s largest car recycler, currently reusing more than 90 percent of materials from end-of-life vehicles, that would otherwise damage landfill. In 2021 LKQ Corporation sold almost 14 million recycled car parts.
The company has been present in .KTW I office building since August 2021. The LKQ Innovation and Service Center is an innovative hub that runs digital, IT and administrative operations for the company. It currently occupies 450 sqm of fully prepared and equipped flexible space, but the plan was always to go far beyond that. A year after opening, the plan turned into action – LKQ Europe will move into space five times bigger than the current one, located on the 2nd and 3rd floors of .KTW II. It will allow the employees to work in even more comfortable ways while reserving some room for further expansion.
“Katowice offers an outstanding infrastructure and international talent, and I am convinced that LKQ Europe is already contributing to its success story. For us, .KTW was a natural choice, as it is not only a prime but also a sustainable location in the heart of the city, amongst other big players. We are looking forward to moving into the new building to further boost our innovation and digitalization strategy – we plan to expand our team at the site to up to 250 colleagues by 2024 to support our business and customers across Europe. We are seeking the most qualified people and offer them an international working atmosphere and a modern space to work and collaborate,” says Scott Bamber, Managing Director of the LKQ Innovation and Service Center in Katowice.
According to the new agreement, LKQ Europe will stay in .KTW II for several years. The new space is currently under construction and was developed with strong support of Colliers. A team of experts from new Colliers Define platform designed the office, taking advantage of recently released new company’s visual identity and brand design. The project is already in the execution phase and it will be well adjusted to flexible and collaborative work environment.
“We highly admire LKQ Europe for its commitment to sustainability in the automotive aftermarket, and its pursuit of becoming a net-zero emissions company. We are pleased that a company with such a strong focus on environmental protection has recognized the green solutions used in the .KTW buildings, confirmed by the BREEAM certification,” says Kamil Krępa, Leasing & Asset Director at TDJ Estate.
The BREEAM certification system is the real estate industry standard for assessing the environmental impact of buildings. .KTW II received a BREEAM Interim Design Stage certificate of Excellent during the construction phase, which indicates that it was designed in accordance with the principles of sustainable construction and responsible management systems.
LKQ Europe will open its office in .KTW II in early 2023. PwC Service Delivery Center, Ammega, Rise.pl and SD Worx are also preparing to move.
