Nhood, an integrated real estate services and solutions company, present in 10 European countries, including Romania, strengthens its leading position in sustainable real estate transformation by launching its global ESG strategy – Nhoods’ Impact Generation – to become a reference player in urban regeneration.
The new strategy aims, among other things, to become a major player in ESG services, with a target of generating cumulative sales of more than €10 million in ESG services by 2030, targeting both existing clients and new partners.
A pioneer in urban regeneration, Nhood has adopted a strategic approach that prioritises people and follows a concrete action plan to assess and maximise the impact of its actions in four key areas: People, Planet, Profit, and Governance.
“At the heart of our ESG strategy is a commitment to people. Our vision is to transform the real estate sector into a driver of sustainable value creation that brings prosperity to our clients, strengthens our business, and positively impacts the future of the planet; all while remaining a solutions engine for our teams,” said Antoine Grolin, President of Nhood.
To reach its ESG goals, Nhood has set a goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040, and aims to reduce the carbon footprint associated with employee mobility by 40 percent by 2030. Furthermore, the company has set a goal to eliminate non-recyclable waste and plant 100,000 trees in its projects by the end of the decade.
In addition, Nhood plans to set up the Nhood Foundation for Regeneration by 2027, through which it aims to redistribute a portion of its profits to regenerative projects.
At the same time, Nhood is focused on continuously developing the skills of its employees through training programs, ensuring a healthy and supportive work environment, actively promoting diversity, equal opportunities and inclusion, and strengthening ties with local communities through solidarity projects. The company’s objectives include training 100 percent of employees in ESG through modules specific to their roles, certifying all company sites to wellbeing standards by 2028 (such as WELL certification) and achieving Gender Equality European & International Standard for Diversity (GEEIS) certification.
From a profitability perspective, Nhood aims to amplify long-term value creation by integrating ESG criteria into financial decision-making processes, adopting a sustainable procurement policy that actively involves suppliers, and redistributing a portion of profits to support regenerative impact projects.
The company places particular emphasis on corporate governance, committing to operate in a transparent and accountable manner. Targets include integrating ESG criteria into the executive bonus system, fully aligning operations with CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) and Duty of Care requirements, and implementing GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) reporting in all markets in which it operates.
Romania – active role in Nhood’s ESG strategy
In 2024, Nhood Romania’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions accounted for 6.9 percent of Nhood’s total emissions, below countries such as France or Italy.
Nhood invests significantly in the education and training of its employees through the Nhood Academy, thus ensuring that all company employees understand and actively contribute to the implementation of the ESG strategy. From 2025, the Nhood Academy will provide employees with 5 e-learning modules dedicated to ESG principles and a specialised training program on climate change, as well as a sustainable lifestyle practices guide applicable beyond the professional setting. They aim to generate behavioural change, both in the workplace and on a personal level, to reduce long-term impacts.
“Nhood Romania is fully committed to implementing the Group’s ESG objectives. We are focused on reducing our carbon footprint, particularly in procurement and transportation, and contributing to the company’s global sustainability goals. Employees are also encouraged to get involved in social or environmental projects, benefiting from a day during the week when they can dedicate themselves to a cause they believe in,” said Elena Bocan, Head of Market.
To support the achievement of these ambitious goals, Nhood is developing an extensive portfolio of ESG services, aimed at both existing clients and attracting new partnerships. These services cover areas such as climate resilience, efficient resource management, protecting biodiversity, and promoting health and well-being.
