“In accordance with Orbis strategy, we are further strengthening our leading position in Romania by dynamically expanding our network of hotels under AccorHotels’ brands not only in the capital, but also in key regional cities like Timisoara. With the opening of Mercure Timisoara, in partnership with S.C. The newly built hotel, offering 60 comfortable rooms, is located in the neighbourhood of the center of Timisoara, the second largest city in Romania, European Capital of Culture in 2021. The building will be environmentally-conscious, complying with the BREEAM green certification outstanding performance requirements.
“We are proud and confident that finally our company dream project became reality, in a period with such a great opportunity for hospitality business in Timisoara. We are sure that a hotel with a high quality and well-known brand such Mercure will contribute and will sustain the touristic project of our city like European Capital of Culture 2021, and the tourism growth in general. Also another challenge for us was to involve all the supplies that we need to make that hotel the first building in Romania in order to obtain the outstanding certification from BREEAM, the highest rang in environmental building control, that means the first hotel with a very high level of healthy living inside and highest technology level, all this for the best services in hospitality for our city,” said Ionut Iakab, CEO of Panera.
“Mercure Timisoara Hotel is a remarkable project and another proof of our long-term commitment to supporting local economy. Timisoara has a high touristic potential, for leisure and business as well, and investments in high quality hotels such as Mercure will help to increase its tourism income. Garanti Bank is actively financing such investments that contribute to the development of Romania’s economy”, stated Bilge Demirer – Executive Director, SME & Commercial Banking, Garanti Bank.
The hotel, expected to open in 2Q 2019, will join Mercure, AccorHotel’s internationally well-known and recognized midscale brand, offering hotels that are all different and locally inspired in over 770 properties in 61 countries across the world.
