Orbis Hotel Group, strategic partner of AccorHotels – a world-leading travel & lifestyle group – in Eastern Europe and the sole licensor of all AccorHotels brands in the region, further strengthens its development in Romania with the opening of Mercure Sighisoara, the first Mercure hotel outside Bucharest.
“In Romania, being one of the most dynamic markets in the region, we are aiming to target the leading position by further developing our network of hotels, predominantly through partnerships with the help of potent local partners,” commented Gilles Clavie, President and CEO of Orbis Hotel Group. “I’m delighted by the arrival of the Mercure brand to Sighisoara, to be followed by further planned openings throughout Romania, confirming the dynamism of our development strategy in the country.”
Following its transformation, the existing Binderbubi Hotel and Spa in Sighisoara will join the internationally-known Mercure network and will be managed by Orbis Hotel Group in the framework of a management contract with the local company Daflog. Mercure is the non-standardized midscale brand of AccorHotels, offering hotels that are all different and locally inspired. The New Mercure Sighisoara Binderbubi Hotel and Spa, located at the base of the Citadel Hill, will offer 52 rooms, three meeting rooms, two restaurants, a bar and a spa. The hotel is scheduled to be open end of 3Q 2017.
