Panattoni has already delivered 250,000 sqm for the automobile production sector in Poland since the beginning of last year. Over 30,000 sqm of this space was for Kongsberg, a Norwegian parts producer with a global reach. The developer began work on the factory extension at the end of 2021. Onto the 16,000 sqm delivered by Panattoni in 2018, a further 6,000 sqm was added and the entire construction work was carried out without disrupting the factory’s continuous production. Within the new section, hi-tech equipment was installed for the needs of the Fluid Transport Systems department responsible for fuel lines and air compression. Among other things, the developer prepared space for an automated cable assembly station as well as an automated cable marking and cutting station. The handover of the centre took place on July 14, and the lease agreement is for 15 years.
“This is another extension project undertaken by Panattoni for a Kongsberg factory in Poland, which demonstrates that cooperation with us is not only a guarantor of quality but also of stability. Production companies want to partner with us in their development, which was demonstrated by delivering 1.5 million sqm to them till now,” says Marzena Tkaczuk, BTS Development Director – Head of BTS Integrity and Management, Panattoni. “The development in Brześć Kujawski also constitutes another brick in the rapid development of the region. Kujawy saw one of the highest demands for industrial space outside the so-called Big Five regions last year. This shows that the hunger for investment here is huge. We are glad that to a large extent it has been satiated by Panattoni.”
On completion of the current project, the total space that Panattoni will have delivered to Kongsberg in Poland has come to almost 40,000 sqm in developments in Brześć Kujawski and Koluszki. This is nonetheless only a small percentage of all the developments completed by the developer for production companies. In Central Europe and Germany, the company has already built 50 BTS facilities to date. In 2021 alone, the developer completed projects for such companies as Weber, Danfoss, Leviat, and Reyaers Aluminium, while in previous years Panattoni built a dishwasher factory for BSH and a forklift factory for Linde.
The Kongsberg factory is in a superb location around 80 km from the geographical centre of the country next to the A1 motorway, which joins Poland’s southern border with the coast. Moreover, the factory is within the Brześć Economic Zone, which is seen as the economic motor of the entire Kuyavian-Pomeranian region. International businesses from many sectors including those involved in logistics, clothing, production and chemicals, have been attracted by the business-friendly policies of the authorities, the land made ready for development and the human capital. The zone continues to develop with for instance the establishment of new bus lines and the building of a new access road. The development of the region is a priority for the local authorities.
