Riding the wave of changes – this was the theme of the 12th edition of the Polish Real Estate Forum. A very adequate catchphrase considering what is happening in the real estate market, the housing market, mortgages, the economy, and Ukraine. Change and difficulties in predicting its consequences were clearly the main themes of all discussions at this year‘s conference.
The event kicked off with an inaugural lecture by PREF 22‘s special guest, President of the Board of the Stefan Batory Foundation, Edwin Bendyk, under the telling title “The World after the War. Possible scenarios.“ The theme of the lecture and particularly its conclusion – the reasons why it is possible, and even necessary, to look to the future with optimism and hope – seemed to permeate all discussions at the conference, both in the residential and commercial rooms.
In these interesting times, things may not be easy, but the health of Polish companies in the broadly defined real estate sector, the potential of Polish municipalities – those that are already popular and those that developers are just starting to discover – as well as the intensive, though often tough, discussions between the industry and local authorities, have all helped to calm the jitters stirred up by the events of recent months.
Other speakers on the stages of the 2022 Polish Real Estate Forum in Sopot included: Deputy Mayor of Poznań Bartosz Guss, Mayor of Jelenia Góra Jerzy Łużniak (later voted by participants as the best speaker of this edition of the Forum), Mayor of Częstochowa Krzysztof Matyjaszczyk, Deputy Mayor of Warsaw Michał Olszewski, Deputy Mayor of Sopot Marcin Skwierawski, First Deputy Mayor of Katowice Bogumił Sobula, Second Deputy Mayor of Olsztyn Halina Zaborowska-Boruch.
This year‘s edition of the Forum drew record attendance, with over 600 people taking part in panel discussions and workshops. Participants had the opportunity to arrange business meetings using the Match Maker platform and have evening talks in an informal atmosphere. Cruises on the Baltic Sea organised by Premium Yachting, the Forum‘s Partner, were an additional form of networking. Those willing could look at the world and business from a different perspective while soaking up the Sopot sun.
