Primark is opening its first store in the Hungarian capital, Budapest, thus securing its 17th market, and marking a significant milestone in the retailer’s ambitious expansion plans across the CEE region. The first Primark store has opened in one of the city’s largest shopping centres, Arena Mall.
With plans to open its first store in Slovakia later this year, Hungary will become Primark’s 6th market in CEE and its 17th market globally.
The new Budapest store will offer customers Primark’s unique formula of the latest trends and everyday essentials at great value prices across womenswear, menswear, kidswear, beauty, lifestyle and homeware. The store will also feature a wide selection of licensing ranges, such as NBA and Disney as well as Primark’s growing Primark Cares label, as part of Primark’s ambition to make more sustainable fashion affordable for everyone.

Recently, the fashion retailer has opened stores in Madrid, Spain, and Turin, Italy. With Budapest, the three new stores, representing an investment of around €30 million, will create around 600 new jobs, reveals Stephen Mullen, Retail Director for CEE, Iberia, Italy, and Benelux at Primark.
Primark currently has 416 stores across 15 countries in Europe and the US. Further openings will take place in Italy, Czechia, Romania, Portugal, and Poland this year. By 2026 the company expects to grow its store portfolio to 530 stores globally.
