The multi-let industrial park developer Flexiparks and the photovoltaic experts from PVT Austria are combining their resources to convert available roof surfaces into sustainable energy sources. The starting signal for the cooperation initiative will take place in the summer of 2024 at “Flexiparks Vienna North I”, with further joint projects in the pipeline.
The innovative industrial park “Flexiparks Vienna North I” in Stockerau is Flexiparks’ first project and was completed in early 2022. Currently, the total 4,000 sqm roof surfaces of the two rented halls feature ecologically designed green roofs, which are now intended to be expanded with an efficient photovoltaic system in collaboration with PVT Austria. For the developers, the focus is primarily on the significant benefits for their tenants from various industries and business fields.
“Our existing green roof regulates the climate in the individual units, promotes biodiversity in the park, and enhances the energy efficiency of the halls. With the installation of a photovoltaic system, we are now taking another important step forward. As specialists in holistic energy systems with years of experience, PVT Austria is the ideal partner for this project. With this cooperation, we are making a significant contribution to sustainability in our parks,” explains Sebastian Scheufele (co-founder of Flexiparks), adding, “But we have even more plans for the future; we intend to certify all sites according to BREEAM standards. This will ensure that our parks meet the highest environmental standards, reduce operating costs for users in the long term, and fulfil the needs of our tenants for an ecologically responsible working environment.”
Flexiparks Vienna North I will be equipped with PVT with a modern energy system, including photovoltaics and storage. The energy generated will be fed into a local energy community to provide tenants with cost-effective and sustainable energy. This holistic solution will be complemented by the integration of so-called Hyperchargers (HPC) for electromobility.
Johannes Rindhauser, owner of PVT International, also sees great potential in collaborating with Flexiparks: “PVT has stood for quality and reliability since its inception. Even the first discussions have shown that Flexiparks is very ‘similarly structured’. Therefore, we are very pleased to have the opportunity to demonstrate our expertise and to cooperate with Flexiparks in the long term. Collaboration on an equal footing always remains a win-win situation.”
In the coming years, further joint projects will be implemented. Flexiparks has already secured the adjacent property and plans to develop “Flexiparks Vienna North II” during 2024. Discussions are also underway for “Flexiparks Vienna East” as well as for additional locations both domestically and internationally.
