In mid-2018, electrical wholesaler Alfa Elektro will move to a new scheme at Prologis Park Chorzów distribution center, more than tripling its current footprint. The tenant was advised in its lease of 16,100 sqm of warehouse, office and welfare space by global real estate advisory firm Savills.
Alfa Elektro has been present on the Polish market since the early 1990s and was the first electrical wholesaler to have established a presence in Silesia. It offers approximately 250,000 products, including light bulbs, lamps, sockets, cables and wires. Alfa Elektro is owned by Sonepar Polska, part of the Sonepar group with global market leadership in distribution of electrical products and operating in 44 countries.
“Benefiting from our steady growth over the past several years and Poland’s favorable economic outlook, Alfa Elektro decided to open a new distribution centre quickly. Our analysis of available locations and our business needs revealed that Prologis Park Chorzów met our requirements. Another argument in favor of choosing this location was our enduring and strong cooperation with Prologis. The project is already underway and we expect to open our new warehouse in early Q4 2018. By tripling our warehouse footprint at Prologis Park Chorzów we will increase SKUs and stock levels to improve product availability. A 16,100 sqm warehouse is a guarantee of continued top-quality customer service, which is a top priority given the current intense competition in electrical wholesaling,” said Piotr Kurzawski, Distribution Director at Alfa Elektro.
“Alfa Elektro has renewed and expanded its lease recognizing our bespoke approach to fulfillment of business needs and growth opportunities we provide within a single distribution centre. An important aspect of this cooperation was to fully adapt the new scheme to the tenant’s technical business requirements, including wider gates, floor reinforcement and development of a customized office building,” said Piotr Brycki, Leasing Officer, Prologis, Upper Silesia.
Prologis Park Chorzów is a modern distribution centre located on the western edge of Katowice, in immediate vicinity of the A4 motorway linking Ukraine and Germany, and 15 kilometers away from the Gliwice-Sośnica Interchange connecting two major international transport corridors in Poland. The Prologis Park can also be accessed by public transport. The developer and owner of the scheme is Prologis, the world’s leader in logistics real estate.
