Poznan-based company Scallier has officially opened another FunShop Park retail park in Romania. The facility, offering GLA 10,000 sqm, was opened in the northern part of Ploiești, a city with over 200,000 residents. The retail complex includes a standalone Lidl supermarket with a floor area of 2,300 sqm and a shopping centre with separate entrances for each store. Tenants at FunShop Park Ploiești include well-known brands such as DM, Sinsay, TEDi, KiK, ZooCenter, Pepco, Jysk, Hervis, New Yorker, CCC, Flanco, and Agroland.
The new shopping centre offers a diverse retail offering and a wide range of services, including appealing dining options. The site features a Rimini restaurant and FryDay food concept operating in a Drive-Thru model. The complex also includes a fitness club operated by a well-known chain.
“Romania’s economic conditions, characterised by ongoing growth and a large internal consumer market, the second largest in Central and Eastern Europe, are favourable for the development of new retail facilities. Retail sales are on a strong upward trajectory, while the level of saturation with modern retail space remains among the lowest in Europe and the CEE region. As in Poland, retail parks are the main contributors of new commercial space, and the pace of development is comparable when adjusted for market size. Romania’s strong consumer-driven economy creates high demand for local shopping centres. This is further confirmed by the consistently low vacancy rates and rapid commercialisation of new projects. The favourable business environment in Romania encourages us to continue expanding our operations in the country and to pursue further development projects,” says Wojciech Jurga, Managing Partner at Scallier.
FunShop Park Ploiești is the latest addition to the network of retail parks operated by Scallier in Romania. Since 2021, the company has completed and opened FunShop projects in Roșiorii de Vede, Focșani, Turda, Vaslui, Timișoara, Moșnița Nouă, and Arad, delivering a total of over GLA 70,000 sqm to the Romanian market.
