SEGRO welcomed online retailer Relaxdays, the largest e-commerce company in central Germany, to SEGRO Logistics Park Leipzig-Airport in Kabelsketal between Halle (Saale) and Leipzig, Germany.
The customer will occupy 86,000 sqm of workspace at the logistics park, making it SEGRO’s biggest ever pre-let in SEGRO’s Northern Europe market.
Relaxdays will use the space as a central distribution warehouse to supply its web store customers throughout Europe.
Christopher Gigl, Investment Director at SEGRO in Germany, said: “This is the largest built-to-suit project we have ever realised in Germany for Relaxdays. For such a large-scale project to go smoothly, everyone involved had to pull together.”
The development incorporates two building sections which have the DGNB Gold sustainability certificate, a fitness and yoga area as well as a roof terrace for employees.
The construction company Goldbeck was responsible for the construction measures as a general contractor. The development incorporates the installation of photovoltaic systems on the entire roof, which will generate more than 3.8 MWh of electricity per year. In addition, electric vehicle charging stations are available.
Other customers on the site include Emons, Nagel, a car manufacturer and a manufacturer of laboratory technologies.
SEGRO is currently developing around 12,000 sqm on the site as an extension for Nagel, as well as just under 8,800 sqm that have been pre-let to another existing tenant. Once these two projects are completed, SEGRO Logistics Park Leipzig-Airport will have 211,000 sqm of rental space.
