Rohlig SUUS Logistics has opened a new logistics centre in Szczecin, combining warehouse and transhipment terminal functions. In the new facility, the operator consolidates operations previously carried out in two locations, increasing their efficiency. In the region, SUUS provides comprehensive logistics support, including warehousing and value-added services, domestic distribution, and daily connections to Scandinavia, as well as customs services. The company plans further development of the branch, including the implementation of the AutoStore system.
The new SUUS logistics hub in Szczecin, with an area of approximately 15,500 sqm, combines warehouse space (12,000 sqm) and a cross-dock terminal (nearly 3,000 sqm). The company has consolidated activities previously carried out in two locations, increasing total operational space and process efficiency. The new facility is equipped with 22 loading docks and a 40-meter external ramp, and offers approximately 13,000 pallet spaces. The hub is located in the Kostrzyn-Słubice Special Economic Zone (KSSSE), at 5 Cynkowa Street, near the S3 and A6 routes, enabling efficient service of the domestic market, Scandinavia, and Western Europe, as well as transport to and from regional seaports. Operations at the new facility will begin in the second half of May this year.
“Western Pomerania is an important point on the European supply chain map, connecting Poland with Scandinavia as well as Western European markets, including Germany and the Netherlands. Additionally, the consistent development of infrastructure, including the expansion of the container port in Świnoujście, strengthens the region’s position in global business. This potential is recognised by local entrepreneurs, who are increasingly operating in international markets, as well as foreign investors locating production and distribution centres here. As a result, demand for comprehensive logistics is growing, which is why we are consistently developing our operations in the region,” says Piotr Zborowski, Member of the Management Board at Rohlig SUUS Logistics.
“Our new logistics hub in Szczecin means even greater efficiency in customer service. We focus on delivering solutions that respond to the growing and diverse needs of businesses in the region. That is why we are already planning further investments, including the implementation of the AutoStore robotic storage system later this year. We will also continue to develop customs services while preparing the facility for certification to handle food and pet food,” emphasises Łukasz Szymański, Branch Director of Rohlig SUUS Logistics in Szczecin. “Thanks to this new investment, we are also strengthening our presence in the local labour market. As operations grow, we plan to increase employment.”
The building is currently undergoing BREEAM certification at the Excellent level. It incorporates solutions supporting energy efficiency, including a 50 kWp photovoltaic installation, an intelligent media management system, and roof skylights covering 12.5% of the roof area in the warehouse and cross-dock zones. The site also includes flower meadows and electric vehicle charging stations.
