The construction of Five, the new office building by Skanska Property Czech Republic, will soon reach its highest point. The international company MSD has already shown interest in leasing premises at this attractive Prague 5 location. MSD (Merck Sharp & Dohme) wants to further develop their successful global IT center.
As such, Skanska is extending its existing co-operation on the Riverview project, at which MSD has been operating its global innovative IT centre since 2014. The modern Five office building is located in an adjacent street in Prague’s Smíchov area, on the site of a former tram depot. MSD shall occupy roughly half of the building’s total lease area of 14,362 sqm.
“We are very pleased with the IT talent here in Prague, and their passion for MSD’s mission of saving and improving lives around the world,” said Richard Branton, MSD Vice President and CTO. “With the success of our global IT hub here, we are looking to expand our team to include more software engineers, project management, and IT operations employees.”
Prague IT center, in which MSD has invested more than a billion crowns, is engaged in software engineering, IT operations, digital marketing, provides mathematical modelling and business analysis, and examines the use of mobile technology in healthcare. Examples of technology being developed in the hub include business applications for sales management, production, research and development of drugs, business administration and project management. The center employs more than 500 people.
“We greatly appreciate extending our co-operation with MSD, as there is an uncommon symbiosis between MSD and our buildings. We share the same values and a belief in innovation, which benefits the environment as well as the people who inhabit it,” said Marie Passburg, President of Skanska Property Czech Republic.
In this transaction, MSD was represented by JLL.
The construction of Five is coming to its completion. It will be available to its tenants in May 2017. It will join the existing office buildings in Smíchov, which is one of the most popular business locations in Prague thanks to its easy access and diversity of services. Tenants can look forward to a panorama view of the Vltava River, Prague Castle as well as Vyšehrad from the common roof terrace.
Spreading over six generously proportioned floors, Five will offer several innovative and green technologies in line with the requirements of the LEED Platinum certificate.
