Real estate is one of the fastest developing industries in Poland. It is full of women, especially in executive and managerial positions. They enter the sector which historically was dominated by men, as women offer competencies answering the modern market expectations – they are flexible, ambitious, able to make decisions, and they gain advantage because of their willingness to share their knowledge and help each other.
Hence the idea to distinguish and promote women, who have achieved the greatest business successes and whose actions inspire others to overcome barriers. The Top Women in Real Estate contest is a joint initiative of the real estate market leaders and key industry organisations, such as Ladies First or WIREP. Its goal is to evaluate the role and competencies of women in the sector and reward the best of them for their achievements.
The results of this year’s edition of the contest will be announced at the Gala ceremony in April 2018. Entrepreneurial women will be assessed in eight main categories – Top Women in Real Estate in:
• Business management
• Innovator
• Business support
• Commercial sales
• Residential sales
• Activities or green building
There are also special categories, which promote best practices: Pro Women Company of the Year, Top Female Journalist in Real Estate and Personality of the Year – a special award, granted by the internet users. The award ceremony will be accompanied by a conference combined with a business mixer. The leading theme of the conference is self development; we have invited i.a. the Gallup Organization to cooperate.
“In many sectors, the role of women has changed in the past years. Ladies often had to pave their way not only with their competencies but also with the strength of character. We want to change that through initiatives such as this one and show the feminine aspects of management as well as the scale of business achievements that accelerate the development of the entire market,” says Krystyna Swojak, the originator and organiser of the Top Woman in Real Estate contest and the Marketing Director of the Commercial Real Estate and Investment Fair Real Connect.
Entries for the competition are open until 5 March – women can apply personally, through their company’s department, or an organisation operating in the industry. In mid-March, a short list of nominees will be announced on the contest’s website. Since then, the online voting starts. We would particularly like to encourage women to submit their applications themselves. The application form can already be filled in at topwoman.pl .
The winners are chosen by the Jury of the Top Woman in Real Estate. It consists of representatives of management boards of the largest Polish and international companies in the real estate industry. The Jury will include both women and men.
