BSH Logistics Centre, part of the Invesco Real Estate portfolio, has been awarded a BREEAM International In-Use certificate of Excellent (Part1 – Asset Performance) and (Part2 – Management Performance) in the latest International Commercial V6 assessment standard. This recognition places the Łódź facility among the most sustainable and best-managed logistics centres in the country.
The Logistics Center located on Jędrzejowska Street in Łódź, within the largest distribution complex in Poland, Central European Logistics Hub, has been serving BSH since its inauguration in 2018. It handles both domestic and export logistics for all products manufactured in BSH’s Polish factories. Additionally, the centre manages the delivery of production components to both domestic and international BSH factories
The facility, covering an area of 79,000 sqm, includes a warehouse space totalling 77,000 sqm. The BSH Logistics Center stands out among similar investments with additional skylights and windows in the facade, allowing for a reduction in the use of artificial lighting during the day. The centre also has its railway siding with two tracks: one inside and the other outside. Over the past few years, the building has been equipped with a special set of ramps and energy-efficient LED lighting.
This year, Invesco Real Estate, in line with its global ESG strategy implemented in all its investments, installed photovoltaic panels in the centre, and the open areas around the building were transformed into flower meadows. The BSH Logistics Centre has also recently been equipped with a BMS system used to manage lighting, heating, air-conditioning or alarm installations, enabling them to be used more efficiently and energy-efficiently.
Such an effectively implemented sustainable development strategy has been recognised with a prestigious award. The logistics centre in Łódź was awarded a BREEAM In-Use certificate at the Excellent level (Part1 – Asset Performance) and (Part2 – Management Performance). This confirms that the building meets the highest criteria in terms of, among other things, energy management, innovation, materials used, building management and ensuring the comfort of users. The building achieved the highest scores in the areas of sustainability and design resilience, carbon reduction, water use and conservation, well-being or climate change adaptation, among others.
“Green certificates are one of the pillars of Invesco Real Estate’s ESG strategy. As a conscious owner, we are ready to bear additional costs for improvements that not only allow us to achieve such high ratings within the BREEAM framework but also result in increased efficiency, and attractiveness of our facilities, and contribute to the daily comfort of the employees using them,” emphasizes Anna Szelc, Director of Investment Management at Invesco Real Estate.
