Focsani retail park, which opened in November last year, has received a BREEAM certificate at the Excellent level. The commercial project with a GLA of 5,000 sqm is part of a network of compact retail facilities developed by the Polish company Scallier in Romania.
Currently, there are already two commercial facilities developed by Scallier with a total leasable area of 11,200 sqm (in Focsani and Rosiorii de Vede), and three more are under construction and will be put into service in 2022. The total volume of existing and completed space at the end of this year will exceed 40,000 sqm. GLA.
All Scallier facilities in Romania will be BREEAM certified.
The retail park in Focsani was built next to the existing Lidl store. Together, they create an attractive, complementary commercial offer that meets the needs of both the residents of Focsani (a city with nearly 100,000 inhabitants) and residents of smaller, nearby towns.
“We implement all facilities in locations where we can use the priority effect, which guarantees effective awareness of the projects and creates a significant competitive advantage at the very beginning of their operation. Additionally, we implement our strategy of implementing commercial facilities in line with the idea of sustainable development, which is part of our broader concept of building a business around good practices that not only minimize the impact on the natural environment but also improve the ecological value of the areas surrounding our projects. We do this through appropriate procedures related to the construction of facilities, the selection of high-quality, ecological materials, as well as specific methods of operation, using, among others, the services of local companies,” says Wojciech Jurga, Managing Partner at Scallier responsible for the company’s development on the Romanian market.
Focsani has stores of brands such as Sinsay, Pepco, KiK, CCC, Animax, Xpress and Hervis. The facility in Focsani also offers an attractive gastronomic offer – the project includes Dabo Doner and Bun de Tot restaurants. “For facilities built in Romania, the gastronomic and recreational functions are very important, as this is what Romanian consumers expect. That is why in our facilities we focus on restaurants and other points that offer the opportunity to spend time in an attractive way, including, for example, playgrounds for children,” emphasizes Adrian Aleman, Development Director at the Romanian branch of Scallier.
“The facilities currently under construction, which will be put into use by the end of 2022, will offer the best possible set of tenants tailored to the needs of local communities, which will include shops and service points of international and local brands, as well as gastronomy and other complementary recreational functions. Currently, more than 50 percent of the space in the projects under construction is already leased,” adds Adrian Aleman.
By the end of 2022, Scallier will commission facilities in Timisoara, Vaslui and Turda with a total leasable area of approximately 30,000 sqm. Further retail facilities in smaller and medium-sized Romanian cities are under preparation.
