Friends of the World Charity Dinner Raises Nearly Half a Million Zlotys
The jubilee edition of the ‘Friends of the World with Friends’ Charity Dinner, held on 14 December 2024 at the Vienna House by Wyndham Andel’s Hotel Łódź, raised over PLN 700,000, including nearly PLN 240,000 from the auction alone.
The star item of the evening was a private visit to the Fellows Library at Clare College, University of Cambridge, generously offered by Prof. Dr. Maciej Dunajski, a Łódź-born professor of mathematical physics who once collaborated with Stephen Hawking. This one-of-a-kind experience fetched an impressive 55,000 zlotys.
Other noteworthy auction highlights included:
- A jubilee edition of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland, autographed by former President Lech Wałęsa, which sold for 45,000 zlotys.
- An autographed racket by Iga Świątek.
- Wine from Sting’s Tuscan vineyard.
- Paintings by Marta Momot and Ryszard Bilan.
The evening unfolded in a vibrant atmosphere, hosted by Agnieszka Sienkiewicz-Gauer and Elisabeth Duda, with guests enjoying exquisite dishes crafted by Michał Pysklak and Grzegorz Łapanowski. The night’s musical highlight was a performance by Urszula, one of Poland’s most beloved singers, accompanied by the Stage Fever band, who kept the dance floor alive until the early hours.
