Ghelamco has commenced the construction of Craft, a new office building in Katowice. The building is being constructed in the business part of the city, in direct vicinity to the shopping mall Silesia City Center.
Craft, the construction of which has just started, is being delivered in the fast-developing part of Katowice. The building will be located at the junction of Chorzowska and Ściegiennego Streets, right next to Silesia City Center. Chorzowska Street is already perceived as the business axis of Katowice. In the direct vicinity, there are bus and tram stops as well as a bicycle route with a city bike station.
“Katowice is a city with incredible energy and potential. We are happy to see our next project being implemented right here. We are going to offer our tenants a building located in a very attractive place, standing out with its original architecture and providing top-class offices. The building will feature state-of-the-art technological solutions, including SignalOS, an operating system for buildings, developed by Ghelamco,” says Jarosław Zagórski, Commercial and Business Development Director, Ghelamco Poland.
Craft will offer 26,700 sqm of high-class office space. The 55-metre building will have 13 floors and a two-storey underground parking lot for 218 cars. Extra 28 places will be available in the above-ground one.
Industrial references
The building was designed by Pracownia Architektoniczna Czora & Czora based in Katowice. It will include three overlapping cuboids, which will provide space for six terraces, one of which on the roof. The facade will be covered with copper colour elements, giving it an industrial character referring to Katowice’s heritage.
“The building’s dynamic body with a terrace-like layout will constitute Katowice’s yet another landmark and an element of the urban gateway to the city. The multi-layered, vertical facade, on the other hand, will ensure optimum sunlight and lighting of the individual office spaces while emphasizing the form and prestige of the building with its variability and appeal,” says architect Aleksander Czora, Pracownia Architektoniczna Czora & Czora, author of the Craft design.
Ghelamco is going to certify the building in the BREEAM system with the Excellent rating. The building will include electric car charging stations as well as 60 places for bicycles with amenities such as locker rooms and showers.
The building is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2022.
Leader of innovation and city-forming projects
Craft is not Ghelamco’s first project in Upper Silesia. In 2010, at the junction of Chorzowska and Ściegiennego Streets, the Belgian developer commissioned the Katowice Business Point office building.
The company is known on the property market primarily for the spectacular city-forming projects in Warsaw, namely Warsaw Spire tower with Plac Europejski (European Square), The Warsaw HUB, which is a multifunctional skyscrapers complex with access to the underground, or Foksal 13/15 – luxury apartments in revitalised residences.
Ghelamco’s projects are among the most innovative and green projects in Poland. The buildings are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and sophisticated solutions, which ensure high comfort and safety of the tenants and are certified under prestigious BREEAM and WELL systems.
