Delta Holding and InterContinental Hotels & Resorts Group (IHG) have signed an agreement formalizing the return of the InterContinental brand to Serbia. This strategically important agreement heralds the construction of a five-star luxury hotel in the heart of Belgrade.
The signing ceremony, held in Belgrade, was attended by members of the board of directors from Delta Holding and IHG for Europe. This collaboration marks a significant step toward strengthening Belgrade’s position as a leading tourist destination in the region, with the return of the InterContinental brand being met with great expectations, according to the statement.
“As a successful partner in Ljubljana, we are proud to announce the construction of a five-star luxury hotel in Belgrade as well. This €100 million investment will further solidify the city’s infrastructure. Our ambition is for this prestigious hotel to open its doors by the end of 2026, in time for EXPO 2027,” commented Andrej Sovrović, a member of Delta Holding’s Executive Board and General Manager of the hotel business.
On the occasion, Karin Sheppard, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of IHG Hotels & Resorts Group for Europe expressed her satisfaction with the return of the InterContinental brand to Belgrade, emphasizing: “Strategic collaboration with Delta Holding is of exceptional importance to our group and confirms our joint commitment to enhancing luxury hospitality in this part of Europe. Belgrade, with its rich cultural heritage and dynamic economy, represents an ideal destination for the top-tier InterContinental hotel.”
Angelina Nekić, Vice President of Delta Holding and General Manager of Delta Real Estate, added that the InterContinental hotel is the main jewel of the Delta District complex: “This project continues our investment cycle with a total value of €250 million. The combination of a five-star hotel with residential and business apartments will set new standards in the luxury real estate segment.”
