The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) hosted its dual SPREE specialty retail & Outlet conferences at London’s Business Design Centre this week with leading professionals meeting to discuss industry trends and new opportunities. Among SPREE speakers was Clara Maguire, CEO of We Are Pop Up, Elisicia Moore, founder and director of Petit Miracles and Dr. Maggie Atkinson, Think Tank Member at Kidzania, as well as Fabian Weinlander, director of project development at UrbanFarmers and Daniel Peters, founder of BBSC. They, along with other executives, discussed the merits of pop-up operations, curated retail and commercialisation.
Across the hall, leading outlet industry executives including Mike Natas, deputy director of development at McArthurGlen; Timon Drakesmith, CFO of Hammerson; Alister Meek, operations director of FASHION HOUSE Group and Anthony Rippingale, head of tourism at McArthurGlen, were among executives tackling issues including consumer spending end economics, omni-channel opportunities and luxury global consumer insight.
ICSC President Tom McGee, who visited London for the event, commented: “Both our SPREE and Outlet conference attendees got to hear from numerous high-level speakers who provided unparalleled expertise and insight into both of these increasingly important sectors within our industry. It’s clear that there is an incredible amount of interest and activity taking place around both outlet centres and specialty retail and that both sectors are continuing to grow and evolve. It promises to be an exciting year ahead for both of these areas within our industry.”
The conference events took place the day before ICSC’s major Retail Connections deal-making exhibition and event which attracted more than 700 delegates.
