The modern railway station, which was built as part of the integrated communication and commercial centre Dekada Konin, has welcomed its first travellers. Currently, the final preparatory works are underway for the opening of the commercial part, which is scheduled for October 27.
The opening of the railway station in the Konin Decade is a significant step in the modernization of transport infrastructure and an important moment for the development of communication in the region. The Dekada Konin station was designed to meet the highest quality standards of passenger service. The modern railway station is the result of many months of work and the involvement of the Polish State Railways, local authorities and companies responsible for the investment – Dekada SA and Xcity Investment, a company belonging to the PKP Group.
“PKP is currently implementing the largest program in its history changing the face of railway stations. In the first edition of the program, which is currently being implemented, the revitalization of historic stations and the construction of completely new facilities in almost 200 locations are planned, but the Company’s investment plans cover up to 300 additional stations. As a large real estate manager, we are looking for various opportunities to use the potential of our resources – hence the cooperation of our development company in the construction of a new communication and commercial centre in Konin. This implementation is a good example of how to give a place new functions, combining them with existing ones,” says Krzysztof Golubiewski, Member of the Management Board of Polskie Koleje Państwowe S.A.
“The opening of the new railway station, long-awaited by residents, is an important step in the modernization of the city. We wanted to create a place that not only fulfils the basic transfer function but also provides travellers with comfort. I am convinced that the new station will become Konin’s showcase, and comfortable conditions of rail travel will encourage even more people to use public transport,” says Przemysław Babczyński, President of the Management Board of Xcity Investment.
“The opening of the first stage of the investment, the Integrated Communication and Commercial Center Dekada Konin, is behind us. Soon, both travellers and residents of Konin will also be able to take advantage of the rich commercial offer. On October 27, we will open a modern shopping centre with a wide selection of renowned stores and service points that will meet their most important needs. The investment also means new jobs for residents – according to our estimates, up to 200 people will be employed here,” says Aleksander Walczak, president of the management board of Dekada SA.
Most of the premises already have their tenants, including well-known and popular brands from various industries, including Biedronka, Hebe, Pepco, Empik, Rossmann and RTV Euro AGD.
The facility with an area of 5,500 sqm GLA is located in the very centre of the city. The advantages of this location include the proximity of large housing estates and public transport and bus stops, as well as convenient road infrastructure, providing easy access to the facility for customers from the city and travellers visiting the region. They will also have a parking lot for approximately 230 spaces at their disposal.
The general contractor of the investment is the Budrem company from Ostrów Wielkopolski. The design of the facility was prepared by JSK Architekci and Unicorn Architecture.
