Sterplan, a long-established Czech engineering firm with a tradition dating back to 1952, has moved into new offices in the Port7 complex in Holešovice. The Colliers team was responsible for both the design and implementation of the interior, creating a 1,800 sqm workspace that reflects both the company’s character and the way its people actually work.
“We specialise in design and consulting in the fields of water management, energy, transportation and civil engineering—from initial studies through complete project documentation on to design oversight and construction supervision,” says Jan Krejčík, chairman of the board of directors at Sterplan.
The move from Nusle to Holešovice was a step toward modernising the company’s office facilities and improving conditions for daily work and team collaboration. Colliers was tasked with creating an environment where employees can easily focus on their work while also collaborating effectively. Given the company’s anticipated growth, the capacity and flexibility of the space played a key role from the outset. The result is an office with 150 workstations, 8 meeting rooms and additional spaces for both collaborative and focused work (project rooms, focus rooms, phone booths).
“Acoustics are also a significant part of the design. Meeting rooms and selected open-space zones are equipped with acoustic wall panels, the placement of which is based on the given space’s specific use. In areas with higher levels of communication, the environment is adapted to increased noise levels, while open workspaces retain a sense of lightness and visual clarity,” notes Manuel Pérez, head of the Design & Build Department at Colliers.
The entire project took four months and included a complete fit-out, ranging from structural modifications and technical installations to custom furniture. “The process wasn’t without complications, as the client proposed several changes. Because Sterplan was an exceptionally committed partner and responded quickly and flexibly, we were able to incorporate all the modifications without affecting the completion date; thanks to our open collaboration,” comments Manuel Pérez.
Port7, where Sterplan is based, offers over 36,000 sqm of office and retail space. The complex is LEED-certified and, according to available data, achieves 43% energy savings and 50% drinking water savings compared to similar type buildings. The complex includes a two-hectare public park, a new bike path along the Vltava River, and an underpass beneath Holešovice Station.
“Our new headquarters at Port7 is not just a change of address for us, but a switch in environment that reflects the transformation of our work in recent years. We need to balance deep concentration with intensive teamwork. I believe this prestigious space will support Sterplan’s further growth and allow us to respond even more flexibly to our clients’ demanding requirements,” says Jan Krejčík, chairman of the board of directors at Sterplan.
