Sun Plaza, a dominant shopping centre in Bucharest, exceeded the threshold of 100 million visitors. The shopping centre brings together over 170 stores on a leasable area of 81,000 sqm, being thus one of the largest commercial centres in Bucharest and Romania.
Over the last two years more than €30 million have been invested in Sun Plaza for the continuous improvement of the retail mix, being one of the shopping centres which constantly adapts to the latest trends in the retail market, both in terms of commercial offer and design.
”Exceeding the 100 million visitors threshold confirms that we’ve made the right decisions in recent years. Sun Plaza is a sensational shopping destination especially due to the commercial and leisure offers that are perfectly suited for our customer needs. We will continue to maintain Sun Plaza among the dominant commercial centres in Bucharest”, said Friedrich Wachernig, member of S IMMO AG’s Management Board.
The commercial centre recently closed the largest reconfiguration process on the retail market in Romania. Over 20,000 sqm of retail space have been reconfigured, including 11,000 comprised in a newly build commercial wing, where more than 40 new shops were opened, the occupancy rate of Sun Plaza currently being of 100 percent.
The shopping centre also underwent a process of design refreshment, with two new plazas created and two remodelled, while different spaces within the mall as well as the underground access passage to Piata Sudului metro station were redefined by graphic art creations by Peter Kogler, an internationally acclaimed Austrian artist and one of the pioneers of the computer-generated art.
The 100 million visitors threshold will be celebrated through a whole series of events that will take place at Sun Plaza between 26th and 29th of April. Visitors will be able to attend extraordinary moments supported by Antonia and Vita de Vie and win over 1,000 attractive prizes, the most important one being a weekend for two at Green Village Resort 4*, Sfantu Gheorghe, Danube Delta.
