Goodman Group, a developer and manager of industrial property, will expand the existing warehouse operated by logistics company ILS on behalf of Inter Cars Group, the largest automotive spare parts distributor in Central and Eastern Europe. The project will increase ILS’s logistics space at the Goodman Sosnowiec Logistics Centre by 65 percent.
The warehouse will be tailored to ILS’s specific requirements and will be used to store and distribute auto parts for Inter Cars. Goodman will provide new warehouse space equipped with energy efficient LED lighting and additional office space. Completion of the project is planned for the first quarter of 2016.
“The expansion of our logistics operations in Sosnowiec will allow us to further develop our activity in the Upper Silesia region and will streamline our logistics. Rather than select a new location, Goodman was able to provide the perfect solution that will allow us to maintain operational efficiency in our supply chain as we grow,” said Wojciech Aleksandrowicz, CEO of ILS.
The existing facility was completed in December of 2014 and provides 24,760 sqm warehouse and 1,490 sqm of office area. The entire warehouse is fitted with LED lighting and was the first LED lighting project for Goodman in Poland.
“ILS’s decision to expand its warehousing space confirms that Goodman is able to build strong customer partnerships by earning the trust of our customers,” said Błażej Ciesielczak, Goodman Regional Director for Central and Eastern Europe. “The choice of the logistics centre in Sosnowiec is also a result of its strategic location and our approach to property, which in underpinned by offering our customer flexibility, actively managed properties and our long-term ownership perspective.”
Goodman Sosnowiec Logistics Centre, with a target area of 66,000 sqm is located in the town of Maczki Bór, 15 km from Sosnowiec. The direct connection with the S1 express way, which connects the centre with the A4 and A1 motorways, guarantees ideal conditions for domestic and international distribution. The facility also has good access to public transportation.
In addition to the logistics centre in Sosnowiec, Goodman is developing another centre in the Upper Silesia region. A new warehouse is being built at the Goodman Gliwice Logistics Centre, of which 13,400 sqm is being built on a speculative basis.
Colliers International advised on the previous and current transaction. “Upper Silesia is one of the most attractive logistics regions in Poland, both in terms of demand from customers as well as space being built by developers. The main reason for this is the superbly developed infrastructure, which is being taken advantage of especially by logistics operators, such as ILS,” said Małgorzata Zbróg, Associate Director, Industrial and Logistics Agency at Colliers International.
