Urban logistics in Duisburg: Goodman completes a new project in the port of Duisburg for Amazon – EuropaProperty

Goodman has completed a project for Amazon, who has now taken possession of a 10,500 sqm logistics facility in Kaßlerfeld in the port of Duisburg. This facility will serve customers living in the Lower Rhine-Ruhr area.

Bernd Gschaider, Director Amazon Logistics Germany, said: “We are excited to open a delivery station in Duisburg where Amazon’s 20+ years of operational expertise, technology advancements and investment in transportation infrastructure is enabling faster delivery for customers than ever before. Amazon Logistics is also helping independent local delivery companies to grow their businesses by providing state of the art technology to deliver Amazon orders.”

The new delivery station in the port of Duisburg features 9,300 sqm of warehouse space and 1,200 sqm of office and social space. The port has direct links with three motorways, the A40, A59 and A3, so the Ruhr metropolis and eastern areas of North Rhine-Westphalia can be quickly supplied from this location. Numerous international companies are based in the Rhine-Ruhr region so that they can benefit from the diverse transport amenities. Goodman has over 80,000 sqm of logistics space under management in the port of Duisburg alone. As of February 1, 2019, there will be another vacant space in the coveted Duisburg location.

Christof Prange, Goodman Germany´s Head of Business Development, explains: “We are proud that Amazon has once again relied on Goodman. The project in Duisburg is the next milestone in our successful working relationship with Amazon which dates back to 2006. The new logistics centre is a good example of using space sustainably and with an urban context, as we are already doing in many locations. Also in Duisburg we have already secured further brownfields to develope speculatively.”

At the upcoming EXPO REAL in Munich, Goodman will be presenting its current project portfolio for urban logistics in Hall A1.434. Goodman experts from all over Europe will also provide information on availability in densely populated urban areas.
