The architects of vsf-creative are delighted to have had a pivotal role in the striking design of the new food hall at Elektrownia Powiśle in Warsaw.

Starting with the refinement of the commercial planning and continuing through the architectural and furniture design of the interior, vsf was responsible for the functionality, look and feel of the food hall, which is now open to the public.

Elektrownia’s rich architecture and history have given a natural theme to the post-industrial building, into which we have layered a sparing palette of raw steel, aged timber and zinc, and ceramics using traditional patterns. Into this subtle background, we have introduced artefacts and elements rescued from the original Elektownia buildings, together with new pieces in a sympathetic style, to create an atmosphere echoing the location’s history and function.

Colour and light are used sparingly to help emphasise both the food concepts and to bring richness, variety and delight to the whole visitor experience.
