Zalando Lounge, the shopping club of Europe’s leading online fashion platform Zalando, will launch the development of a 130,000 sq m logistics center near Olsztynek. It will serve as a workplace for up to 500 people. The project will be developed by Hillwood.
“Zalando’s extensive investment activities in our country confirm the excellent condition of the e-commerce sector. Global players select Poland because of the location, improving infrastructure and attractive rent rates along with an extensive employment pool. This time Zalando Lounge decided in favour of Olsztynek because of the availability of attractively located investment land parcels, the potential of the local labor market as well as access to expressways S51 and S7. The expansion of e-commerce giants has also triggered the rapid development of the Polish industrial sector, which witnessed record-breaking demand in 2017,” commented Tomasz Olszewski, Head of Industrial CEE at JLL.
Experts from JLL represented Zalando in the process of searching for appropriately located investment land.
“The project required a detailed analysis of multiple locations across a large area of Poland, determining both their compliance with the client’s requirements including the necessary infrastructure. The process of preparing the property for the investment underwent supervision as well. An important factor in selecting Olsztynek , taking into account such a tight schedule, was the business friendly attitude of the local authority,” adds Marta Staśkowska, Land Development Coordinator at JLL.
Zalando Lounge, with about 15 million registered customers, is currently operating on 12 markets throughout Europe. The club offers exclusive access to 2,500 brands with discounts of up to 80 percent and complements Zalando Fashion Store with special sales campaigns available for a limited period of time and which is aimed at customers looking for excellent value for money.
