Cushman & Wakefield has been appointed a co-exclusive agent for leasing office space in the Europejski Hotel in Warsaw. The hotel will provide 7,000 sqm of first-class office space arranged over two new floors constructed on top of the building. Its refurbishment is scheduled for completion in late 2016. The owner of the Europejski Hotel is HESA.
The Europejski Hotel is located in Warsaw’s Krakowskie Przedmieście Street and Piłsudski Square. Built in mid-19th century by a renowned Polish architect of Italian origin Henryk Marconi, the Europejski Hotel was one of Europe’s most modern hotels at that time and the most luxurious hotel in Poland in the interwar period. It operated until 2005 when it was returned to the heirs of its pre-war owners. It is currently undergoing a major refurbishment. In addition to a luxury hotel and SPA operated under the Raffles brand, the scheme will comprise 2,700 sqm of upmarket stores, restaurants and cafes, which will help restore the vitality and vibrancy to this historic urban area.
Cushman & Wakefield will be responsible for commercialization of office space located in the hotel’s two-storey addition, with each floor providing around 3,500 sqm of prime Class A+ office space. They will be directly accessible from two independent entries with reception desks, and served by a three-level car park with 80 parking spaces.
The investor is HESA (formerly Hotel Europejski Spółka Akcyjna), a family business established in 1924 by the then heirs of the hotel’s founders the Przeździecki family. In 1948, the Europejski Hotel was confiscated from HESA by the communist government. It was not until 2005 that the family regained ownership of the property. In 2012, a two-thirds stake was acquired by a Swiss company Takami Holding. The renovation of the Europejski Hotel began in 2013.
