CL Property, a Polish developer specializing in modern and multifunctional industrial and logistics space, announced a transaction with DSV concerning the Citylink Łódź project. A new DSV logistics centre will be built on a 5.7-hectare plot located on Zakładowa Street in Łódz.
The Danish company DSV, Global Transport & Logistics, unveiled an investment program in Poland, aimed at building a network of logistics centres. The project prepared by Citylink in Łódź is part of the implementation of this five-year plan and is the second facility being developed by DSV according to its new, ambitious ecological standards.
DSV is committed to accelerating green transformation projects in the logistics sector and strengthening the resilience of national and European supply chains. The logistics company is raising the bar in sustainable development by adhering to the highest environmental standards in all its facilities across Europe and Poland. DSV’s priority is ensuring that all investments meet the most stringent environmental criteria and help its clients achieve their individual CO2 emission reduction goals throughout the supply chain.
“We are pleased that the excellent location offered by the Citylink Łódź project will contribute to achieving the DSV Group’s goals of reducing the carbon footprint of its operations. The location of the site in Łódź’s Widzew district, with direct access to public transportation and only 1.5 km from the A1 highway junction, ensures excellent logistical service not only for Łódź but also for the entire region of central Poland. We share a common approach and understanding with DSV regarding the importance of sustainable development in warehouse investments. While preparing the project for construction during the land development process, we focused on high environmental standards with future users in mind,” comments Michał Gonicki, Leasing & Asset Manager at CL Property.
CL Property was responsible for the entire land development process, including the acquisition of individual plots from private owners and the City, obtaining environmental decisions, and securing the building permit. The company also managed the construction of access roads, the cabling of the power line, and the responsible demolition of existing structures.
The planned facility will consist of a cross-dock courier section and a high-bay warehouse, covering a total of over 26,000 sqm. The goal is to ensure energy self-sufficiency, so the building will be equipped with photovoltaic panels and an energy storage system. The investment also includes installations to support efficient water management and infrastructure to promote electromobility, including charging stations for delivery and passenger vehicles. The prototype for the Łódź investment is the currently developed DSV logistics centre in Wypędy near Warsaw.
“ESG is now a significant part of the strategy for many of our business partners, and we not only adapt to this trend but strive to be its pioneer. We believe that reducing the carbon footprint will become a key business aspect, especially in the future of the TSL market. I believe that companies in this sector that do not take concrete steps toward green transformation goals will lose their competitiveness,” emphasizes Wojciech Cipiur, CEO of DSV Solutions Poland.
Poland’s excellent location, crucial for building stable supply chains, plays an important role in the nearshoring process and strengthening the TSL sector. DSV’s strategy includes supporting the process of building Poland’s reputation as the best place to develop business on a European and global scale. Investments in ultra-modern and ecological logistics centres confirm the importance of the Polish economy, further increasing the ability of Polish companies to expand into foreign markets and attracting new investments to the country.
DSV plans to start construction work at the beginning of 2025, with the new facility expected to be operational in the fourth quarter of 2025.
