The construction and leasing of Belgrade Plaza, shopping center development by Plaza Centers in Belgrade’s Karaburma area, is progressing as planned and the opening date is still scheduled for the first half of 2017. In the past month, aside from Inditex Group, new lease agreements have been signed for stores Fashion & Friends, Bata, Africa shoes, Shoestar and JUHU play area.
The developer has started with the tiling in the common areas and 20 percent of the finishing works have been completed. The complete mechanical equipment on the roof is in place, and all the escalators and majority of the elevators have been installed. The paving and placement of slabs around the building have also started. In November, Plaza Centers commenced the handover of units to the anchor tenants, with a plan for 30 percent of the total GLA to be handed over by mid December.
The leasing process is very advanced and the majority of retail units have either been leased or are under final negotiations with tenants from various sectors. During the previous month, many significant lease agreements have been concluded further strenghtening the tenant mix of the center.
Aside from Inditex Group, amongst the tenants who have signed contracts with Belgrade Plaza in November is one of the largest regional fashion retailers – Fashion Company. The company has decided to open two stores – Fashion&Friends, a 330 sqm multibrand store on the ground floor, and shoe store Bata with an area of 100 sqm on the first floor.
Additionally, lease contracts have been concluded with shoe stores Africa and Shoestar, as well as with a playground operator JUHU. JUHU will offer customers of the center supervised childcare and entertainment across an area of about 200 sqm on the second floor of the mall.
Belgrade Plaza project is a €80 million investment and will consist of 61,000 sqm GBA providing 32,335 sqm of retail space across three levels. Two levels will be dedicated to retail and one top level will be for leisure and entertainment facilities including a multiplex cinema, playground, food court with various restaurants and cafes with breathtaking views of the Danube river. There will be four floors of underground parking, as well as outdoor parking space.
