Data4, an established company in the data centre sector, has launched its second facility at its expanding campus in Jawczyce, in the municipality of Ożarów Mazowiecki near Warsaw. The new building delivers 10 MW of IT power and represents another phase in the planned expansion of the investment.
Data4 continues to grow its presence in Poland steadily. In 2023, the company delivered the first building at the Jawczyce campus, and the launch of the second facility marks the next stage of this development. To date, Data4 has invested €200 million in Poland and plans to nearly triple this amount to approximately €600 million by 2030. The campus expansion will involve continued cooperation with Polish suppliers and local partners, while also creating new jobs. Ultimately, the investment is expected to generate around 400 direct and indirect jobs.
Digital Infrastructure and Its Importance for the Region
Demand for computing power is rising alongside the growth of cloud services and artificial intelligence. According to internal analyses, Poland’s data centre capacity could increase from approximately 300 MW today to nearly 500 MW by 2030, with more than half—around 300 MW—allocated to AI-based solutions. In this context, the pace of investment delivery and infrastructure availability are becoming critical to economic competitiveness.
“Poland is already a leader in Central and Eastern Europe, accounting for more than one-third of the region’s data centre capacity. We want to continue strengthening the competitiveness and technological sovereignty of both Poland and Europe. In a world where data and computing power are becoming critical resources, digital infrastructure supports not only economic growth but also national security. Investments such as the one in Jawczyce create opportunities for Polish companies to adopt advanced solutions and close digital gaps,” said Andrzej Domański, Minister of Finance and Economy.
The Data4 campus in Jawczyce is being developed on a 4-hectare site. Once completed, it will offer a total capacity of 60 MW and approximately 50,000 sqm of gross floor area, including nearly 15,000 sqm of net IT space. The newly opened building is part of this long-term plan, another step in the development of Poland’s digital infrastructure.
“The expansion of the Jawczyce campus is a clear signal that Poland remains one of Data4’s key markets in Europe. We are developing infrastructure in a phased and predictable manner, combining high technical standards with a responsible approach to the environment and cooperation with the local community in the municipality of Ożarów Mazowiecki. A stable technological backbone is now essential for the continued growth of the digital economy,” said Adam Ponichtera, Managing Director of Data4 in Poland.
“The launch of another building on our Polish campus is of strategic importance to us. With the rapid growth of artificial intelligence and cloud services, digital infrastructure is becoming one of the foundations of European economic competitiveness. That is why we are consistently expanding the Data4 campus network across Europe to meet the growing demand for computing power,” added Olivier Micheli, CEO of Data4.
Combining Technological Performance with Sustainability
The new facility is the first project in Data4’s European network to be developed to the BREEAM standard—one of the world’s most widely recognised environmental assessment systems for buildings. The data centre has achieved an “Excellent” certification and is also the first facility of its kind in Poland, built in accordance with this standard. BREEAM evaluates, among other factors, energy efficiency, water management, material selection, emissions, and the overall environmental impact throughout a building’s lifecycle.
The building features a modular, container-based design, with approximately 60% constructed from prefabricated elements. This approach significantly reduced on-site wet works and traditional concrete pouring, resulting in lower emissions and shorter construction time. The solution serves as a reference project within the Data4 European network and sets the direction for the company’s future technological development.
All new Data4 projects are delivered in line with the group’s global environmental targets. These include designing facilities to achieve a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) below 1.3, using 100% low-carbon energy, and continuously monitoring energy and water consumption. The first Data4 data centre in Jawczyce, opened in 2023, already demonstrates the company’s environmental commitments. Over the past 12 months, the facility achieved a PUE of 1.27—below the 1.30 target set by the European Code of Conduct on Data Centres for the entire industry by 2030—meaning the Polish campus meets these requirements four years ahead of schedule.
“The development of the Data4 campus in Jawczyce is an important investment for our municipality. We are pleased that this project not only strengthens local infrastructure but also contributes to the region’s economic growth. We appreciate our cooperation with the investor, which translates into tangible benefits for residents,” said Paweł Kanclerz, Mayor of Ożarów Mazowiecki.
