CTP has partnered with Raben Group to complete Europe’s largest heat pump installation at CTPark Warsaw West. The second-largest installation of heat pumps in the world behind a Japanese installation, Raben’s installation of 87 Mitsubishi Electric units with a total capacity of 12.4 MW will heat and cool two warehouses with a total area of 110,000 sqm daily.
Warsaw West is one of CTP’s zero-emission industrial and logistics parks, with no fossil fuels used to heat the buildings and rooftop photovoltaic installations powering the Mitsubishi Electric heat pumps, in addition to the park’s existing extensive sustainable features.
In 2023 Raben Group signed an agreement with CTP to lease 110,000 sqm at CTPark Warsaw West in Wiskitki, comprising two of the five buildings being built. Raben Group is due to move into these buildings later this year, which will be used to carry out warehousing and forwarding operations supplemented with a whole range of added services, including packing or contract logistics.
At Raben Group’s space, several modern solutions are being implemented to meet Raben’s decarbonisation strategy. This includes climate control of warehouse space (humidity and temperature control and heating of warehouses) through heat pumps, which is the current standard for new Raben Group buildings. The use of heat pumps combined with highly efficient underfloor heating technology ensures efficient use of electricity, minimising carbon dioxide emissions into the environment. The estimated effect of these technologies used will be a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions by 700 – 750 MgCO2e/year compared to an equivalent warehouse space heated with gas.

This project also confirms CTParks’ ability to adapt to the precise expectations and needs of our customers. EAHV-M1500YCL-N Mitsubishi Electric units have been installed in the facilities. In response to Raben Group’s precise expectations, they have been grouped into eight cascades for underfloor heating in each building, the installation of which includes – a record on the Polish market – 150 kilometres of pipes, thus making it possible to separate zones of different temperatures in the warehouses. The four cascades also produce chilled water, which is used to cool down the storage space using heating and cooling apparatus. The entire system is grouped into modules of 2 to 24 units, using their assigned hydraulics.
Each of the heat pumps installed at CTPark Warsaw West has four cooling circuits and uses so-called inverter compressors. This type of solution guarantees a wide range of possibilities for adjusting the heating and cooling power to the tenant’s current needs. The function of compressor rotation and unit redundancy, meanwhile, translates into a high level of reliability of the entire system regardless of the prevailing conditions. The units used were designed in such a way that the heating mode could be carried out even at external temperatures reaching -20oC, which was an extremely important requirement for Raben Group.
