Polish cinema operator Planet Cinema has leased more than 2,000 sqm at the Platan Shopping Centre in Zabrze for its third venue in Poland to open in late October or early November 2018. Planet Cinema is also planning to expand into four other cities in the near future. The tenant was represented by Cresa Poland.
The six-screen cinema in Zabrze will be fully air-conditioned and have a total seat capacity of more than 700. It will show both 2D and 3D films, and feature a VIP section with super-comfortable seats. Planet Cinema organizes special film showings for women, film marathons and events for children. It will also extend its offer to businesses looking for a place where to hold conferences and team-building events. Everyone who enjoys a good film in a friendly atmosphere will find something for themselves here.
Planet Cinema boasts superb picture, sound and customer service quality. Cinema-goers also appreciate brief commercial pods before film showings. Planet Cinema opened its first cinema in Oświęcim in 2011 and another one in Ełk in 2014. It is planning to enter the markets of Kutno, Ciechanów, Kołobrzeg and Zawiercie in coming years.
“Wherever we open a cinema, we engage with local communities to best respond to both inhabitants’ and tourists’ needs and to make Planet Cinema an important meeting place for them. We will also add a new feature: Planet Café offering all cinema-goers a wide selection of snacks and beverages. I am happy that this coming autumn we will be able to offer top-quality entertainment in Silesia too,” said Tomasz Brodowski, Director of Planet Cinema.
The Platan Shopping Centre was opened in downtown Zabrze in 2003. Following its extension and upgrade, it will see another 11,000 sqm of leasable space added to its 31,000 sqm and the number of stores increase to approximately 120. Platan is owned by NEPI Rockcastle.
“Planet Cinema’s competitive edge is the quality of its services rather than its scale. The cinema opening in the upgraded and superbly-located Platan will add to the attractiveness of this complex, which also boasts a strong retail and entertainment offer and remains a top destination in Zabrze,” said Szymon Łukasik, Head of Retail Department at Cresa Poland.
