DORACO has been selected as the general contractor of the upgrade of ETC Swarzędz, the oldest shopping mall in the Wielkopolska Region. The construction work is scheduled to start in Q2 2016 and continue until H2 2017. The project investors are Capital Park Group and Akron Group represented by a joint venture.
The investors have hired DORACO to prepare execution designs and implement construction works for the upgrade of the shopping mall. The architectural design comes from J.S.K. Architekci, known among others as the architects of the National Stadium, the new Legia stadium in Warsaw and the Wrocław airport.
The main objective of the upgrade of ETC Swarzędz is to link its three separate buildings and to facilitate traffic within the complex. The layout of outlets will be rearranged, providing new common areas and spacious passageways facilitating traffic within the mall, as well as a food court. The shopping mall will accommodate the needs of visitors with disabilities and families with children. The building will be up-graded in accordance with modern standards as it gets a new façade and a modern interior. The car park will be expanded to 750 parking spaces.
“ETC Swarzędz is a shopping mall of the first generation, which has been successfully in operation for more than two decades. It has earned a reputation on the local market and remains highly popular with customers. It is time to refashion the mall and bring it in line with the current market standards and the needs of customers and tenants,” said Stefan Ausch of Akron Group.
The floor area of the upgraded facility will offer 20,000 sqm accommodating 80 shops and service outlets of the existing local tenants in new formats as well as nation-wide brands and popular international chains new to Swarzędz. During the refurbishment works, the centre will remain open to clients as tenants will continue operating from temporary outlets in the car park of the mall. The Intermarche hypermarket, the 2B Active fitness club, the KFC restaurant and the Shell gas station will operate without alterations.
