Panattoni building BTS for Carrefour in Bydgoszcz – EuropaProperty

Panattoni Europe is to build a logistics centre for Carrefour Poland – a multi-format retailer. The BTS project will feature more than 38,000 sqm of space and will be built in Bydgoszcz. Ground was broken to symbolically commence construction on 11 August and delivery to the client is planned for February 2017.

The investment spanning 38,184 sqm, with a 36,726-sqm warehouse and 1,458 sqm allocated to office and staff facilities, will be erected in Bydgoszcz and will be the chain’s fifth distribution centre in Poland. The location will serve all stationary formats of Carrefour Poland in the north and west of the country – including Szczecin, Gdańsk, Poznań, Zielona Góra and Wrocław. The tenant will be able to launch operations as early as February 2017. The general contractor of the facility is Kajima Poland.

Panattoni Europe’s extensive experience in developing facilities for the food industry points to some special solutions in the storage and distribution of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG). For this reason, the BTS facility for Carrefour Poland will be more than just a warehouse with some office space. Diverse articles to be stored, which can be divided into product groups: non-perishables (food and non-food) and perishables (meat, dairy, fruit and vegetables), require different temperature parameters. That is why the warehousing section has been divided into several controlled-temperature storage areas. LED lighting will be installed in the entire facility. The loading area will provide room for some 96 forklifts, and the external car park will feature 40 spaces for trucks and 123 spaces for passenger cars.
